Winter
Time at the Watts
During
the month of May we travelled to Israel for a family reunion. I have not been
home for 11 years, and my family there had not yet met our 2 boys. It was also
my Dad’s 60th birthday party; it was a very special time for me.
Two of my sisters live in Israel on the kibbutz where we all grew up and my Dad
has been living there since he was 13 years old. My Mum and my other sister
travelled from the UK. Altogether with all the children and grandchildren we
were 19 people; it was busy!!
Both
Charlie & I were looking forward to the break. As much as we love our work
here, it often gets stressful and frustrating, so a break for 5 weeks was very
welcome. Nevertheless resting was not on the agenda with two little boys, ( Joel
at one year and Sammy at two and a half)! Although we often wanted to shut our
eyes for a few minutes, things were on the go all the time, but it was good to
have time with the boys and with my family.
In the Jewish tradition, every
Friday night there is a big meal to welcome the Sabbath. Here as you can see it
is all my (Sharonne) family (without the little ones as they were asleep) having
a Friday dinner together.

Joel
& Sammy
Joel
has a fearless character! Everything that he is not supposed to do he wants to
do, and everything that his big brother does he follows!! At times we have to
say NO to him; instead of looking full of respect and fear he laughs at us!! I
can see that life will not have a dull moment with Joel. He walks and is trying
to talk, but mostly it is animal sounds that he likes to imitate, especially the
lion and the tiger!!
Joel
is thinking about a quick swim in the sea of Galilee

Sammy
is more settled at nursery, and seems to cry less for mummy when it is time for
goodbyes. He does talk well and we can communicate well with him, he seems to be
growing fast and his favourite books are Hairy McClary from Donaldson’s
Dairy!!
Sammy loves swimming, here in
the sea of Galilee with Yossi (my sister Mor’s boyfriend).
Life
in Zambia.
Charlie
always seems to be busy with preparing for the next lesson, trying to get
connected to the world on the internet, and supervising the works at the
workshop.
As
for me it is the usual juggling between being mum, administrator and wife, like
most mothers in the world, but I love it and I love my family and I love my
work.
In
the past few weeks we have started worshiping in the morning with a group of
other expats and missionaries. It is something that we longed for, to be able to
worship God and hear his word as we know. We love the African churches but so
often the preaching is in the African style which we find a little difficult.
Also
the boys are able to go to a good Sunday school and we (Charlie & I) are
given the opportunity to sit and listen to the preaching. Which is a great
blessing, as we were not able to do so before.
During
our time in Israel, it was the 58th celebration of independent day.
In Israel everyone has a Braai (BBQ) with their families and hangs out the
Israeli flag everywhere. We were no exception, stuffing our faces with good
Israeli food!!!
